Centennial LatAm Operating Income Down 16%

US and Caribbean wireless and broadband provider Centennial Communications' operating income from its Puerto Rican unit fell 16% to US$39.9mn in the third quarter of fiscal year 2007, ended February 28, compared to US$47.5mn in the year-ago period, the company said in its earnings report.

Revenues for the unit in fiscal Q3 were US$102mn, flat on third quarter FY06.

Mobile revenues for the unit were US$75.2mn compared to US$76.3mn in the year-ago period. Total subscribers reached 399,400 in Puerto Rico at the end of the quarter compared to 379,400 at the same time the year before.

Broadband revenues increased to US$30.3mn from US$29.1mn.

During the financial 3Q07, the company's capex in Puerto Rico totaled US$16.9mn, similar to the US$16.4mn invested in the same period last year.

In mid-March the company completed the sale of its Dominican Republic unit Centennial Dominicana for US$80mn to US-based holding company Trilogy International Partners."
