Mobile Lines Up 42% End-Feb
Mobile lines in service in Argentina increased 42% to 33.2mn at the end of February compared to the same time last year, while mobile traffic for the month rose 24.2% year-on-year to 1.84bn calls, national statistics institute Indec said in a statement.
Fixed line local telephony traffic climbed 5% year-on-year and domestic long distance calls increased 18.2%. The number of outgoing international long distance calls was up 23.6%, while the number of minutes rose 16.7%.
At the end of February Argentina had 9.05mn fixed lines in service, up 1.3% compared to end-February 2006. Public phones totaled 156,900, down 0.8%."
