3G Tests in Ukraine
The Ukrainian operator, Astelit - which trades as life:) - says that it has conducted its first 3G trial calls, including HSDPA. Currently life:) has 5 trial 3G sites installed in Kyiv. The sites were installed to test the 3G network capacities and make the necessary conclusions as to the possible 3G commercial launch.
All the trial 3G equipment was provided to life:) by Nokia-Siemens Networks. Currently the exploitation of the sites has no commercial purposes and is targeted at purely testing the mobile infrastructure.
As Astelit CEO Tansu Yegen commented; "We are happy to once again prove our innovations-driven spirit and announce that we have completed a trial 3G connection within our network. We consider this a big step towards the era of 3G communication in Ukraine to the approach of which we plan to exert much effort"."
