Brazil's largest mobile phone operator Vivo and Spanish telecoms giant Telefónica are testing a combined direct sales effort for integrated fixed line and mobile phone services for the corporate market, local media reported.
As part of the pilot project, Vivo and Telefónica's sales teams have started to target the same client base in the Brazilian cities of Campinas and Porto Alegre, online news service UOL reported director general Agostinho Balbino of Vivo Empresas as saying.
The two operators have created joint incentives to encourage corporate customers to sign up for both services, according to the executive.
"Few clients know, but when they use the dialing code 15 [of Telefónica] for long distance calls from a Vivo mobile phone, they are charged a different tariff that includes a reduction of 25% for corporate plans," tech news service Computerworld reported Balbino as saying.
Another example is that in areas where Telefónica's fixed line customers cannot access the internet, corporate customers via Vivo can use a PC card for notebooks and PCs to access the internet.
Vivo is a joint venture between Telefónica and Portugal Telecom."
