HSDPA Demo in Solvenia
Slovenia's Si.mobil-Vodafone recently demonstrated HSDPA services over its 3G network. The company says that commercial services will be available for users already in Autumn.
Si.mobil - Vodafone has acquired UMTS frequencies in the end of September 2006. The construction of network was well planned, many adaptations were made and new technological platforms were set up. Si.mobil - Vodafone will continue with UMTS network construction in the following months and the network will be fully upgraded with HSDPA technology.
Until the end of this year efficient mobile broadband access through HSDPA technology will be available in Ljubljana and Maribor and afterwards in all of the larger cities in Slovenia. Data transfer with EDGE is already available to 90% of Slovene population and the upgrade will be going on also in the future.
The Mobile World subscriber database reports that Si.mobil-Vodafone ended last year with just over 420,000 subscribers - giving the company a market share of 23%."
