Retailer Says Cell Phone Sales in Ukraine Up 58% on Yr in 2006

MOSCOW, Mar 7 (Prime-Tass) -- Sales of mobile handsets in Ukraine rose 58% on the year to 9.5 million units in 2006, according to data by Ukrainian mobile phone retailer Allo obtained by Prime-Tass Wednesday.

Allo projects sales in Ukraine to rise 10.5% this year to 10.5 million mobile phones.

Russian mobile handset retailer Euroset said last month Ukrainian sales of mobile handsets had increased 39% on the year to 12.1 million units last year, while in late January, Ukrainian retailer AVentures Group estimated 2006 sales of mobile handsets in Ukraine at 10 million units.
