Rwanda Upgrades CDMA Network to EV-DO
Rwanda Terracom has deployed a CDMA2000 EV-DO network in the capital city, Kigali according to Christopher Lundh, the newly-appointed CEO of Terracom. China's Huawei supplied the equipement as part of a general network upgrade.
"The network was launched on Friday and will be optimised throughout the next few weeks." said Lundh.
Terracom expects to extend its existing upgrade contract with Huawei, which is currently changing 18 towers for newer platforms. A further contract to upgrade 90 towers is being discussed said Lundh.
"This means the whole country will have access to CDMA technologies in the next few months." He says the improved network will reach all regions, even areas with low density."
