Alcatel-Lucent Shows CDMA at 700 Mhz

Alcatel-Lucent has introduced a CDMA2000 mobile network solution for the 700 MHz spectrum band. Alcatel-Lucent says that their CDMA2000 solution is being enhanced to support the specific needs of the public safety organizations of state and local governments.

"We're pleased to be able to provide public safety organizations with a high-quality, reliable mobile network solution that leverages the power of our commercial platform," said Mike Iandolo, president of Alcatel-Lucent's CDMA/EV-DO activities. "Public safety and other personnel will be impressed with the high-quality voice and the very high-speed data capabilities that CDMA2000 technology delivers."

Alcatel-Lucent's commercial CDMA2000 products available to support public safety networks include the Alcatel-Lucent CDMA Modular Cell 4.0 Compact and Radio Network Controller. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent is developing the necessary operations and network management software needed to support public safety services including authentication and encryption capabilities that provides users with secure access to certain services.

The solution also will be sold to federal government customers through LGS, an independent subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent dedicated to serving the U.S. government community. LGS, headquartered in Vienna, Va., and with offices in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey and North Carolina, was created by joining the Lucent and Alcatel Government business units and Bell Labs Government."
