Kuwait has become the latest market to reach the 100% penetration milestone, with total customer numbers now standing at 2.525m, against a total population of just under 2.5m. The market is a simple duopoly, with MTC and Wataniya having 57.5% and 42.5% respectively.
The chart below shows the trend in customer additions over the past couple of years (during which time the market moved from 94% penetration to the current level of 103%. MTC it has materially outperformed its smaller rival over the past couple of years, as the following chart demonstrates.

We use MTC's registered figures here, to achieve comparability on a historic basis, although the company has now moved to stating 90-day active customer totals (see "MTC Group Q4 and FY 2006 Results").
