United States Cellular Corp.'s third-quarter net income rose 52% to $35.9 million, or 41 cents a share, from $23.7 million, or 27 cents a share, a year earlier as revenue rose 12%.
The Chicago company's revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 grew to $888.5 million from $795.1 million in the year-ago period.
On average, analysts expected per-share earnings of 60 cents on revenue of $860.3 million, according to a poll by Thomson Financial.
The company's results were delayed as the company restated results from 2002 through the second quarter of 2006 to correct the accounting for prepaid forward contracts.
U.S. Cellular's shares closed Friday down 36 cents, or 0.5%, at $71.30.
