Dobson CTO: "Our Network Is Rock Solid"

Dobson Cellular's chief engineer yesterday said the company's GSM network is "rock solid" and announced plans for continued expansion in the upcoming year. Specifically, Duffy announced Dobson's intention of adding approximately 300 new cell sites in its markets this year. "Last year, we built 287 new cell sites throughout the country," he said. "We brought significant improvement to underserved areas and stronger service in high traffic corridors. We are making good on our promise to deliver the best wireless network possible to Dobson customers."

"Thanks to on going expansion and enhancement, our network performance is excellent, and we continue to improve our coverage throughout our 17-state footprint," said Timothy J. Duffy, Chief Technical Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering and Network Operations. "Our customers can look forward to more expansion and improvement in the upcoming year as we continue to give them the strongest signal and fewest dropped calls of any wireless carrier in their area."

New cell sites improve coverage, quality and capacity by allowing more users access to Dobson's voice and data services, including the wireless Internet, picture phones and downloadables.

In 2006, Dobson's Network Quality Assurance Team of engineers and technicians brought new coverage to the hill country of Texas, southern West Virginia and Virginia, and Nome and Kodiak, Alaska - new areas acquired by Dobson - in addition to improvements throughout the company's existing markets."
