Japan's eMobile has selected a Sharp handset to launch its 3G data only network in a couple of months time. The Sharp EM One is a HSDPA based handset which supports Windows Mobile 5.0 for its operating system and comes with a W-VGA (800 X 480) screen and full QWERTY keyboard. The handset is just 18.9mm in depth, and comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera.
EMOBILE, Sharp and Microsoft closely worked together from the basic planning stage, thus developing various functions that are released for the first time in Japan.
The handset can also be uses as a mobile modem when connected to a laptop computer. In addition to the keyboard, the screen is touch sensitive when used with a stylus. Built in memory is 128MB flash, and supports the miniSD memory card.
