Dobson Cellular to Become Cellular One
Dobson Cellular Systems - a name long associated with telecommunications in western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle - is changing its name. Effective from next month, Dobson Cellular Systems, will market its wireless service in Western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle under the trade name of Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems.
"Over the years, as Dobson has expanded its footprint to 17 states and grown into the leading provider of wireless service in rural America, we have consistently used the Cellular One brand name," said Chief Marketing Officer Tom Roberts. "Last year, we were able to purchase the Cellular One name and believe the time is right to make the name change in our Dobson Cellular markets."
Overall, the company operates more than 70 wireless markets nationwide utilizing the Cellular One brand name.
"The Dobson family name has a strong reputation in these areas and nothing will change except the name on the door," he said. "Just as E.R. Dobson first brought landline telephone service to rural Oklahoma 70 years ago, we look forward to continue bringing cutting-edge wireless telecommunication services to the area."
In particular, Roberts cited the company's ongoing commitment to network expansion and enhancements in western Oklahoma. Over the past year, Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems has turned on multiple new towers in the area that increase capacity, reduce blocked calls and give customers overall better coverage.
Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems is a subsidiary of Dobson Communications."
