Motorola Opens Branded Retail Outlet in Colombia

Motorola has opened its first own-branded retail store in Latin America, in Bogota - the capital of Colombia. The store, located at the 'Santa Fe' Mall, is the first of a number of stores that the company will launch in the country.

"The fact that Colombia is the first Latin American country with a stand alone MOTOSTORE fills us with pride and clearly shows once more the commitment and trust that Motorola has in our country. We are aware that more than a phone, Colombians seek in their devices an experience that meets their daily communications needs and reflects their lifestyle; MOTOSTORE is the place where Colombians will most profit from the experience of purchasing our cell phones and our Motorola products" said Juan Carlos Perdomo, Colombia Business Director.

In addition to the usual services you would expect from a branded retail outlet, the store will also engrave a customers name into their handset as an extra bit of personalisation.

The Mobile World subscriber database reports that Colombia ended last year with a total of just under 30 million mobile phone subscribers, representing a population penetration rate of around 67%."
