Ukraine's UMC to Launch CDMA-450 Network by July

KIEV, Feb 16 (Prime-Tass) -- Ukraine's second largest mobile operator Ukrainian Mobile Communications, or UMC, plans to launch a CDMA-450 mobile network into commercial operations by July, UMC's General Director Adam Voyatski told Prime-Tass late Thursday.

UMC has already chosen an equipment supplier for the network, Voyatski said without naming the company. The network is expected to be launched in test mode in two months, he added.

UMC, fully controlled by Russia?s largest mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), provides services in the GSM standard. The company received the license to operate a CDMA-450, or IMT-MC-450, network in mid-July and said then that it planned to offer only Internet access services.
