Vex to Provide Wi-Fi Hotspots for McDonald's

Local company Vex will provide Wi-Fi wireless internet hotspots to up to 500 McDonald's fast food restaurants across Brazil, Vex said in a statement.

In the first phase of the project Vex has already installed Wi-Fi hotspots in 33 outlets.

McDonald's expects Vex to roll out Wi-Fi hotspots in over 25 outlets a month to cover all its Brazilian restaurants within two years, the statement said.

Vex is aiming to install 3,000 hotspots in Brazil by the end of 2008, said company president Roberto Ugolini Neto.

Vex currently has 800 hotspots in 118 Brazilian municipalities, according to the statement.

The company also has 60 Wi-Fi hotspots in Argentina and expects to increase this number to 280 this year, Vex's marketing manager Marcos Ferraz Romero recently told BNamericas."
