Huawei Says 500,000 Vodafone 3G Phones Sold"

China's Huawei has said that the first customized Vodafone-branded 3G handset, jointly developed by both companies, the V710, has reached its 500,000th sale across 14 European countries since its launch in September 2006.

"As the exclusive strategic partner for Vodafone's own brand 3G handsets, we are very pleased with the great success that Huawei and Vodafone thus far in our collaboration," said Mr. Ping Guo, CEO of Huawei Terminal Company, "In the face of transformation and evolution in the telecommunications industry, Huawei will continue to provide innovative, tailor-made solutions for Vodafone to help enhance and expand their service portfolio and potential growth in the industry."

Huawei and Vodafone also marked the first year anniversary of their strategic 3G handset partnership at the Barcelona 3GSM World Conference with plans to enhance their partnership in 2007. In 2007, Huawei and Vodafone will deepen their co-operation in design concepts and customization, rolling-out a series of jointly developed Vodafone-branded 3G devices."
