VimpelCom Tajik User Base Soars to 100,000 As of Jan 1"

MOSCOW, Feb 6 (Prime-Tass) -- The subscriber base of Tajik mobile operator Tacom, a subsidiary of Russia's second largest mobile operator VimpelCom, jumped to 100,000 users as of January 1 from about 15,000 users as of September 1, 2006, VimpelCom said in a press release Tuesday.

VimpelCom purchased a 60% stake in Tacom in December 2005 and launched its Beeline brand in Tajikistan in September 2006.

In September 2006, Tacom also launched a third generation (3G) mobile network in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe.
