Russian Regulator Fines MTS 40,000 Rubles for Ad Violation"

MOSCOW, Feb 5 (Prime-Tass) -- The Moscow branch of Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has fined Russia's largest mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) 40,000 rubles for violating Russia's advertising laws, the regulator said Monday.

The company was fined for failing to properly disclose some important information on its Profi 30 tariff plan, the regulator said.

In an advertisement for the tariff plan on its Web site, the operator did not disclose information about restrictions to signing up for the tariff plan, or the fact that Profi 30 cannot be purchased in retail outlets and MTS' points of sales, the regulator said.

On February 2, the regulator fined MTS 40,000 rubles for violating advertising laws when promoting another tariff plan called Pervy.
