RadioFrame Networks Announces GSM and UMTS Femtocell Products
RadioFrame Networks has announced the introduction of its first set of commercial femtocell products utilizing the company's recently introduced OmniRadio Processor Platform. RadioFrame's femtocell products are small, low cost "access point" like base stations that will catalyze the fixed mobile convergence market for homes, small and medium enterprises needing licensed spectrum solutions.
The newly announced femtocell products augment RadioFrame Network's existing GSM and UMTS picocell offerings. The femtocell product portfolio will initially include separate 2G and 3G base stations that will become available in the third quarter of 2007. Additionally, a combined 2G/3G base station will be added in the fourth quarter of 2007.
"Today's announcement of an exciting lineup of femtocell products is the culmination of several years of experience in understanding the needs and desires of this marketplace," said RadioFrame Networks President and CEO Jeff Brown. "As we work with mobile operators we have repeatedly heard that femtocells supporting both GSM and UMTS are becoming increasingly important to them. RadioFrame's new products will consist of low-cost hardware that is easy to implement; these are two critical requirements that will enable broad adoption by end users."
