Claro Selects Intec Mediation System
Brazil's third largest mobile operator Claro has selected UK billing software solutions company Intec's mediation system, Intec said in a statement.
Intec's mediation system will replace Claro's existing mediation systems for voice and next generation networks such as GSM, GPRS and TDMA networks.
Intec's mediation system can process more than 12.8 billion call detail records (CDRs) a day and will easily meet Claro's needs with its customer base of 21 million, according to the statement.
"In order to remain competitive in Brazil's technologically advanced mobile market, Claro needed a mediation system that would allow them to launch new, innovative services quickly," Per Martell, Intec's Latin America and Caribbean regional director, said.
Intec's mediation solution is installed in more than 220 of the world's leading carriers in fixed, wireless, IP and 3G services.
Brazil's largest mobile phone operator Vivo (NYSE: VIV) has already deployed Intec's platform and processes some 250 million CDRs a day, Martell recently said.
Founded in 1997, Intec has over 1,700 employees and 31 offices in 25 countries. Claro is a unit of Mexico's América Móvil."
