Tekelec Provides Pelephone with Number Portability Solution

Tekelec says that that the Israeli CDMA operator, Pelephone has selected the EAGLE 5 platform with integrated number portability (NP). Tekelec has contracted with Bynet Data Communications, a systems integrator based in Israel, to implement the solution and to provide local project management and professional services in voice signaling and data Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure to Pelephone.

The Tekelec solution, which can handle up to 96 million subscriber entries, will support Pelephone's network expansion. In addition, the solution will enable porting for GSM and CDMA technologies as well as fixed networks.

Doron Kurtz, vice president of engineering and technology for Pelephone, said, "Tekelec has a strong history of NP innovation, and its unique architecture, combined with the proven performance and reliability of the EAGLE platform, will enable us not only to meet the demands we face today, but also those we will face well into the future."

Wolrad Claudy, managing director for Tekelec's operations in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Middle East, added, "We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Pelephone, which is evidence of our continued momentum in the Middle Eastern mobile telecommunications market.
