BrT to Invest US$4.7mn in Rev Assurance Software

Brazil's third largest fixed line operator Brasil Telecom expects to invest 10mn reais (US$4.7mn) in revenue assurance software, newspaper Gazeta Mercantil reported.

Brasil Telecom is starting a 14-month implementation program to install the software to help detect and avoid the non-payment of bills by customers of fixed, mobile and data services.

The software will also automate manual processes of collecting bill payments, according to the report.

Despite the large investment, payback should be "relatively fast," said Brasil Telecom's director for the project, Gina Marques.

The Brazilian unit of Portuguese IT consultancy WeDo Consulting will develop the software, the report said.

WeDo also develops revenue assurance software for other operators such as Brazil's largest fixed line operator Telemar and its mobile unit Oi, as well as the local unit of Spanish fixed line operator Telefónica."
