Syndicates, Foreign Companies Can Bid for Russian 3G"

MOSCOW, Dec 26 (Prime-Tass) -- Syndicates and foreign companies are able to bid for licenses to provide third generation (3G) mobile services in Russia, the Federal Communications Agency?s Director Andrei Beskorovainy told reporters Tuesday.

The agency, also known as Rossvyaz, announced tenders for three 3G licenses Monday.

Syndicates can bid on the condition that only one of the syndicate members gets the license if the syndicate wins, Beskorovainy said.

He said that foreign companies will be allowed to participate in the tenders through their Russian subsidiaries.
