Sibirtelecom Mobile User Base Up 50% in January-November

MOSCOW, Dec 22 (Prime-Tass) -- The mobile subscriber base of Russian telecommunications operator Sibirtelecom rose 50% in January-November to 3 million users as of December 1, the company said Friday.

Sibirtelecom projects its total investment in mobile services at 5.2 billion rubles this year, the company said. Sibirtelecom said early this year it planned to increase its investment in mobile services 60% on the year in 2006.

Sibirtelecom is Russia?s seventh largest mobile operator. It owns 100% of Baikalvestcom, Yeniseitelecom, Altaisvyaz, Ulan-Udenskaya Sotovaya Set (Ulan-Ude Cellular Network) and Stek GSM, which are all GSM mobile service providers in the Siberian Federal District.

The company?s mobile subsidiaries control 44% of the market in the Krasnoyarsk Region, 55% in the Irkutsk Region and 59% in the constituent republic of Buryatia, Sibirtelecom said.

Sibirtelecom provides a range of telecommunications services in the Siberian Federal Region. Russian government-controlled telecom holding Svyazinvest owns 50.67% in the company.
