GSM Coverage Improved in Iceland

The Icelandic operator, Siminn says that it has greatly strengthened its customers' GSM connections by setting up over 40 new transmitters since the beginning of the year. Siminn has recently improved the GSM system in West Iceland, among other things, by relocating transmitters in Bifrost to beef up the connection there, and new transmitters were installed in Akranes. In Stykkisholmur the GSM connection has also been improved; in addition, further improvements to the connection are being made. The plan is to increase the number of transmitters there, which should make the GSM connection in Stykkisholmur very good.

Siminn has set up transmitters in the capital city area in many places to make the GSM connections denser and better, for example, in Seljahverfi, Grafarvogur and Vallahverfi in Hafnarfjordur. In addition, GSM connections have been improved in
