Willtek Adds Chinese 3G to Handset Tester

Willtek Communications says that it has added TD-SCDMA call mode capability to its 4400 Mobile Phone Tester Series, in support of China's planned 3G deployment. The product also supports the standard 2G technologies of both GSM/GPRS/EDGE and cdmaOne.

Monty Johnson, CEO of Wireless Telecom Group, stated, "The Chinese market is a strategic focus for the Wireless Telecom Group as a whole due to the tremendous wireless growth expected in the region. We are now proud to be supporting the Chinese wireless 3G initiative with the introduction of their China-developed TD-SCDMA standard into our industry-leading mobile phone tester. With significant 3G expansion expected within China in 2007, partly in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games, we are positioned well to participate in the continued evolution of this market."

"Additionally, we recently introduced a testing product through our Noise Com business unit for emerging High Definition Radio products. With the majority of these products being manufactured and tested in China, we are strategically positioned to play a strong role in this developing market and anticipate the continued opportunity to support the manufacture of such advanced electronic devices in China."

Eckehard Mielke, Managing Director of Willtek Communications, added, "We have recently received orders for our 4400 tester to be used in the production of GSM mobile phones from two Chinese customers, one of which was a new customer. These orders are further evidence of China's trust in Willtek's ability to provide strategic turnkey solutions for wireless handset production. Remaining cognizant to the needs for both flexibility and low overall cost, we are pleased to introduce our TD-SCDMA test capability as an integrated option into our highly successful product."

Willtek's TD-SCDMA capability is planned for commercial availability within December."
