Huawei Tests 3G at GSM900 Frequency Bands
Huawei has announced that it has completed video phone and HSDPA 3.6 Mbps services trials on a network in Europe using UMTS 900 MHz and that it plans to continue to conduct multiple UMTS 900 MHz field trials in Australia and Europe.
Huawei's UMTS 900 MHz solutions completely re-use the existing GSM 900 MHz's frequencies and infrastructures including base station cabinets, antenna lines and power feeders, causing a reduction in CAPEX and enabling the provision of wireless broadband services.
"We are glad to complete the Interoperability Testing (IOT) successfully on UMTS 900 MHz which will save both deployment time and investment time for operators." commented Hou Jinlong, vice president of Huawei wireless product line. "Huawei's successful trial of HSDPA 3.6 Mbps video services on UMTS 900 MHz spectrum shows Huawei's UMTS/HSPA is an industry leader in the mobile broadband field and committed to developing innovative solutions that create maximum value for our customers."
