Vivo, ReCellular Sign Two-year Partnership to Recycle Phones"
Brazil's largest mobile phone company Vivo and used mobile phone collector ReCellular have announced a two-year partnership to recycle used mobile phones, ReCellular said in a statement.
The launch of the recycling program should begin this month in 58 stores with 15 locations in Rio de Janeiro, 11 in capital Brasília and 32 in São Paulo.
"ReCellular and Vivo are partnering in one of the largest handset recycling initiatives the wireless industry has ever seen," ReCellular CEO Charles Newman said.
"Vivo's network is the largest in the southern hemisphere, which means there is the potential to properly recycle tens of millions of cell phones," Newman said.
The partnership plans to collect over 4,000 phones at collection points throughout Brazil, the statement said.
