7,000 Public Wi-Fi Hot Spots in Russia This Year"

MOSCOW, Nov 27 (Prime-Tass) -- The number of public Wi-Fi hot spots in Russia is expected to amount to 7,000 by the end of this year, J'son&Partners consultancy said in a report Monday.

U.S.-registered telecommunications operator Golden Telecom is expected to operate the major portion of the hot spots, the consultancy said.

Golden Telecom said in October that it had installed over 5,200 Wi-Fi hot spots in Moscow and planned to increase the number to 6,000 by the start of commercial operations, scheduled for January 2007.

J'son&Partners expects the number of public hot spots in Russia to increase to 13,000 by the end of 2010.
