Vodafone: Next Gen Mobile Network Hires Peter Meissner
LONDON -(Dow Jones)- Vodafone Group said Monday that The Next Generation Mobile Network, a mobile industry platform founded between China Mobile, KPN, NTT DoCoMo, Orange, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, and Vodafone has appointed Dr. Peter Meissner as its operating officer.
In his new role, Meissner, who has more than 30 years of experience in various fields of telecommunications, will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company and ensure that it delivers on its goals.
NGMN aims to develop a set of key requirements for a future wide area mobile broadband network that will give customers competitive and highly interoperable broadband performance, Vodafone said.
Meissner will also oversee a permanent support team which is yet to be recruited.
In his most recent role, Meissner was corporate vice president for quality and performance with the Orange Group where, in addition to his operational responsibilities, he played a key role in developing the NGMN initiative.
