Telefónica Launches Movilforum to Promote Corporate Mobile Services
Spain's Telefónica has launched its Movilforum initiative in the 13 Latin American countries where the company has operations, Telefónica said in a statement.
Movilforum came into operation in Spain in 2000 and aims to promote the development and commercialization of mobile services and applications in the corporate sector.
Telefónica's mobile unit Movistar has launched the initiative in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay.
The company decided to expand the reach of the program to Latin America due to the increasing penetration of Movistar in the region with a client base of over 110 million users and the potential market to develop voice and data mobile services.
"We have a large opportunity to offer applications developers a collaboration and innovation platform that will allow them to provide Latin American enterprises with the best productivity solutions to solve their mobility needs," Telefónica's director for mobile products and services for America, Carlos Macra, said.
