China Unicom Adds 1.29 Million Users In Oct Vs 1.23 Million in Sept

HONG KONG -(Dow Jones)- China Unicom, the smaller of China's two mobile operators by subscribers, said Sunday it added a total of 1.29 million subscribers in October.

The addition is more than 1.23 million subscribers it added in September.

The added users for both its GSM network and CDMA network brought its total number of subscribers to 139.8 million at the end of October

Users of its GSM network totaled 104.04 million at the end of October, up from 103.12 million at the end of September.

The addition of 924,000 GSM subscribers during October, was up from the 894,000 GSM subscribers added in September.

It also said subscribers to its CDMA network totaled 35.76 million at the end of October, up 361,000 from 35.40 million at the end of September. This compares with the 336,000 CDMA subscribers it added in September.

China Unicom added a total 1.29 million subscribers for both networks and brought its total number of subscribers to 139.8 million at the end of October. The addition is more than 1.23 million subscribers it added in September.

China Unicom's larger rival, China Mobile Ltd. (CHL), is scheduled to issue its latest subscriber data Monday.
