Oi Selects Telcordia to Develop Voice, Data Services"

Brazil's largest fixed line telecoms operator Telemar's mobile unit Oi has selected US-based Telcordia Technologies to develop voice and data services based on its converged application server, Telcordia said in a statement.

Telcordia's converged application server gives Oi the flexibility and capabilities necessary to develop new services such as games, account-sharing capabilities and promotions such as two-for-one ring tone downloads.

The project will also enable Oi subscribers to choose a landline number or Oi number in the same area to receive reduced rates for the call, or prepaid Oi customers to send a message to get emergency credit of 3 reias (US$1.39).

Telcordia Technologies is a provider of telecoms network software and services.
