Regulator Lowers Fixed to Mobile Interconnection Rate by 15%
Colombia's telecoms regulator CRT has lowered by 15% fixed to mobile interconnection rates from 464 pesos to 392 pesos (US$0.17) per minute, CRT said in a statement.
The reduction came into effect November 1, and according to CRT will result in overall monthly savings for subscribers of 3.4bn pesos (US$1.48mn).
The reduction is the second this year, after CRT cut the rate to 464 pesos from 907 pesos in February. Between January and June, CRT registered a 30% increase in average fixed to mobile traffic, for which it credits the rate reduction.
The sector has seen a total rates reduction for the year of 57%, the statement said.
