Romanian Operator Expands Coverage

Cosmote Romania says that following substantial investments of over EUR220 million, the company has reached in record time nearly 92% population coverage and more than 76% geographical coverage to date. Since September 2005, Cosmote has expanded its network to cover an additional 8.9 million Romanians, currently providing mobile services to nearly 20 million people across the country.

The company says that it will continue its investments for the expansion of its GSM networks, targeting over 95% population coverage and more than 82% geographical coverage by the end of this year. Cosmote's strategic goal is to provide over 98% population coverage and more than 85% geographical coverage during next year, thus exceeding other operators' coverage.

Commenting on the company's aggressive network expansion during a press conference, Cosmote Romania CEO, Mr. Nikolaos Tsolas, said: "In line with Cosmote Group's long-term commitment for quality mobile communications for all its customers, Cosmote Romania places special emphasis on its network optimization. We are making significant investments to rapidly increase our network capacity and expand the coverage throughout Romania, aiming to achieve nearly full population coverage during 2007."

In order to provide quality mobile telecommunication services where people work, live and travel, Cosmote is also expecting to have network coverage in Bucharest subway (stations and tunnels) early next year. Cosmote has launched a national advertising campaign in order to inform the public about the company's significant expansion of its network coverage throughout Romania."
