Russia's VimpelCom Ukrainian Unit Posts 1 Million Users

MOSCOW, Oct 24 (Prime-Tass) -- The subscriber base of Ukrainian RadioSystems (URS), a Ukrainian subsidiary of Russia's second largest mobile operator VimpelCom, has almost quadrupled since the beginning of the year to 1 million users, URS' press office reported Tuesday.

At the moment URS provides services in 320 cities and 2,400 localities in Ukraine, covering territory where over 60% of the Ukrainian population resides, URS said. The company plans to expand its network to cover about 90% of the Ukrainian population by the end of the year, the company added.

VimpelCom bought 100% in URS in November 2005 and launched its Beeline brand in April.
