Unicom Launches CDMA Network in Macau

China Unicom says that it has invested US$12.5 million on the development of its CDMA network in Macao. The Macao Post Daily quoted Chen Wu, deputy general manager of the Macao branch of China Unicom, as saying that his company is expected to invest between US$25 million and US$37 million over the next few years.

China Unicom's low fees and quality services are believed to increase competition in Macao's telecommunications market, Tou Veng Keong, director of Macao's Telecommunications Regulation Bureau, was quoted as saying.

In March 2005, China Unicom (Macau) Ltd won the CDMA license in Macau Special Administrative Region. The Company has launched the CDMA network and launched the service in Macau to provide roaming services for Chinese CDMA users."
