Vodafone Terminates Greek Retail Partnership

Vodafone Greece says that it terminated the availability of its products and services through Germanos retail chain in Greece effective from last week. This decision comes due to the new ownership status of Germanos, becoming part of competitive network after a buy-out. A couple of weeks ago, rival operator - Cosmote increased its state in the publicly listed retailer to just under 63%.

Vodafone owns its own retail network of 360 stores along with a network of 1000 retail partner stores.

Vodafone says that it is worth mentioning that more that 12 million people have visited Vodafone's own network of retail outlets; a number that is 40% higher compared with last year visitors. Vodafone continues its dynamic presence through its own network of retail outlets and retail partners all over Greece in order to accommodate clients' needs.

Last week, Vodafone UK signed an exclusive agreement with Phones4U and cut its dealer payments to independent retailers - a move which significantly affected the share price of the UK's largest independent retailer, CarphoneWarehouse. Orange UK is also understood to be reassessing their retail plans for the next few years and may withdraw from selling phones outside their own stores."
