Kenyan Operator Orders Fraud Platform
Subex Azure says that it has won a contract to provide its fraud management system to Safaricom, the Kenyan mobile services provider. Safaricom wanted a scalable fraud management solution to help it reduce and identify subscriber fraud on its pre-and post-paid services.
After a nine-month thorough tendering process that included technical demonstrations and reference customer visits, the Subex Azure Fraud Management Solution (SAFMS) was chosen. SAFMS is a fraud management system which enables operators to detect both known patterns and unusual fraud types. SAFMS utilizes rules-based alarms and artificial intelligence driven pattern matching to identify unusual behaviour. It is highly flexible allowing operators to customize the configuration to suit their network and business requirements.
Subash Menon, Founder Chairman, Managing Director & CEO, Subex Azure Ltd said: "We are delighted to be working with, Safaricom, and this deal is a great endorsement of the versatility and effectiveness of SAFMS. Subex Azure has a strong presence in the African market, with over 20 customers in the region, and this new contract further cements this position."
The Mobile World subscriber database reports that Safaricom ended the first half of this year with just under 4.4 million customers - representing a market share of around 67%."
