Pantech Aims for 10% Handset Share

Korean mobile manufacturer Pantech is targeting 10% of the Argentine handset market by the end of 2007, the company said in a statement.

The company recently launched a series of new models offered to clients through mobile operator CTI Móvil, a unit of Mexico's América Móvil.

"Argentina is key to our efforts to further expand in Latin America. The launch of these new products is in line with our goal to increase our presence in the region," Pantech's senior VP for overseas sales Keon Kim said.

According to the company, Pantech became the sixth best-selling brand in the Argentine market during the first half of this year.

Pantech initially launched its brand in Argentina at the end of 2005.
