MegaFon Jan-Jun US GAAP Net Profit Soars 70% on Yr

MOSCOW, Sep 28 (Prime-Tass) -- The net profit of Russia?s third largest mobile operator MegaFon soared 70% on the year in January-June to U.S. $318.64 million, as calculated under U.S. GAAP, the company said in a report Thursday.

The company did not provide any reason behind the jump.

MegaFon said that its revenue increased 51.4% on the year to $1.552 billion in January-June.

In 2005, the net profit of MegaFon soared to $393.6 million from $172 million in 2004.

MegaFon had 27.555 million users as of August 31, according to Advanced Communications & Media (AC&M).
