Vodafone Own-Branded 3G Handsets

Vodafone is expected to announce the launch of its own-branded 3G handsets later today. Back in February, Huawei announced a contract with Vodafone to supply a range of 3G handsets, with the first shipments due sometime in September.

The Reuters news agency covered the issue again yesterday, and sources inform cellular-news that Vodafone is planning a product launch later today in Hong Kong.

The first handset, which will only have Vodafone's brand on it and will not be co-branded with Huawei. The supply deal will last at least five years and will span 21 countries.

Huawei also signed a global agreement with Vodafone for the future supply of network infrastructure equipment last November."
