T-Mobile Tops Network Survey
T-Mobile Germany has picked up the top network award from the local specialist magazine, Connect in a test of the four GSM networks in the country. In the overall rating of "connect", T-Mobile was awarded first place with 399 out of a maximum of 500 points and the rating "good" ahead of Vodafone (391 points, "good"), O2 (359 points, "satisfactory") and E-Plus (348 points, "satisfactory").
The test results are based on test runs on motorways, highways, country roads and the train throughout the whole of Germany in August 2006. In all four mobile networks, the testers set up several thousand voice and data connections, measured connectivity times, gathered and systematically evaluated various other quality data using the latest technology in line with strict regulations. The outcome was also confirmed by the result of the annual "connect" reader vote in which T-Mobile 2006 was named "network of the year" for the seventh time in a row.
"We are proud to have achieved first place in this objective network test," said Joachim Horn, Director of Technology at T-Mobile Germany. "The result confirms that our strategy is right - in addition to the introduction of HSDPA in UMTS areas back in May, we are continuing to invest in the quality and performance of our GSM network for our customers The systematic introduction of EDGE means that we are focusing on high-speed services throughout the whole of Germany."
A current representative survey carried out by tns Infratest also confirmed the top ranking of the T-Mobile network from a customer perspective. The study revealed that T-Mobile customers were the most satisfied of all customers served by the four network operators with 78.8 percent awarding their network a good grade. O2 (74.5 percent satisfied) followed in second place; Vodafone (73 percent) came third and E-Plus (59.6 percent) fourth. Over 1,000 people were surveyed in early August 2006."
