NMS Communications has announced Ukrainian-based mobile operator Astelit is using it's AccessGate backhaul optimization solution to accommodate burgeoning subscriber growth. Astelit is deploying AccessGate to expand network capacity and increase coverage throughout the Ukraine, as that region continues to experience tremendous mobile subscriber growth.
AccessGate employs aggregation and bandwidth optimization techniques that enable wireless operators to maximize Radio Access Network (RAN) backhaul efficiency and support new subscribers and services without additional CapEx or OpEx investments.
Astelit's use of AccessGate was facilitated through NMS distribution partner Nova Telekom, a leader in transmission systems services, call center services and GSM system services.
"The breakneck speed at which new Ukrainian subscribers are adopting mobile services can put strains on operator networks not equipped to handle such growth," said Oguz Memiguven, technical director of Astelit. "By deploying AccessGate, we are able to quickly and cost-effectively accommodate new subscribers in a timely fashion without having to abandon our legacy equipment or add substantial new capacity."
"As mobile operators' networks evolve from TDM-based GSM to packet-oriented UMTS and beyond, mobile operators will continually seek ways to conserve backhaul bandwidth," said John Orlando, chief marketing officer for NMS. "The AccessGate backhaul optimizer will continue to serve a vital role in mobile operators' abilities to meet the future demands of their customers and the challenges of their competitors."
