The Orange Credit Card

Orange Switzerland says that it is planning to start offering its own credit card service later this year, which will include a loyalty program offering discounts on Orange mobile phone bills. The credit card is issued by Viseca Card Services. The rewards scheme can be used separately or together with the Orange Collect Card.

"With the webmiles rewards programme and the Orange Collect Card we are once again the first Swiss telecom operator to take a new and innovative path in Switzerland. Going into the credit card business will enable us to offer our customers big advantages. Customers will benefit from a rewards programme when they make telephone calls and will receive all the advantages of a credit card at the same time. If they use the collected rewards points for Orange vouchers, then the more they use their credit card the cheaper their monthly telephone bill becomes", enthuses Orange marketing manager, Timm Degenhardt.

Orange is currently in the process of evaluating the Prepay credit card option. This type of card would provide the same freedom to make purchases without cash as with a traditional credit card, however, a credit on the card would be made in advance.

Statistics from The Mobile World database notes that Orange Switzerland ended the first half of this year with just under 1.3 million subscribers. That represents a market share of just over 18%."
