HSUPA Test Cases Released
Anritsu has announced the completion of what it says is the first 3GPP HSUPA protocol conformance test case. HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) is a critical element in the delivery of high speed data rates on 3G mobile networks. This latest extension of 3G technology provides a major improvement to data transfer rates from the mobile terminal to the network by increasing uplink speeds from 384kbps to 5.7Mbps.
Availability of conformance test cases is critical for the certification of terminals that is required before commercial deployment, enabling the industry to finally deliver the range of mobile products and applications that will meet market and consumer expectation for the technology.
Anritsu is the first test and measurement company to submit such a test case to the 3GPP. The company has worked closely with the leading mobile terminal equipment suppliers within the industry to deliver this test case. Part of the 3GPP Release 6 specification, the TS34.123 test case 8.2.6.50 was submitted to the 3GPP RAN-5 working group for approval in early September.
The test case was debugged on Anritsu's Protocol Test System (PTS) and builds on the highly successful MD8480C W-CDMA Signalling Tester for W-CDMA/GSM/GPRS and HSDPA/HSUPA terminals launched earlier this year."
