VimpelCom Tajik Unit Launches Beeline Brand

MOSCOW, Sep 11 (Prime-Tass) -- Tajik mobile operator Tacom, a subsidiary of Russia's second largest mobile operator VimpelCom, launched the Beeline brand Monday, VimpelCom said in a press release.

Tacom's representatives said that the company planned to build a network covering territory where 80% of the country's population lives by the end of the year. No comparisons were provided.

Tacom, or Takom, holds licenses to provide GSM 900/1800, UMTS, CDMA-450 and AMPS standard services in Tajikistan.

VimpelCom acquired a 60% stake in the Tajik operator in 2005.
