Vodafone Planning Internet Service Provision
Vodafone UK is expected to announce later this week that it is joining in the Internet Service Provider (ISP) market and will start offering ADSL broadband internet connections to its customers via a landline. The service is expected to be a reseller agreement with the former state monopoly landline operator, BT. Cable & Wireless was understood to be pitching for the wholesale business but lost out to BT.
In the UK, fellow network operators, O2 and Orange are already offering bundled ISP services to their customers and the phone retailer, CarphoneWarehouse has been swamped by customers since they started offering a free broadband service.
Vodafone and BT both declined to comment."
