Conatel Receives Comments for Frequency Use

Venezuela's telecoms regulator Conatel opened on September 5 a public consultancy period to receive ideas on the best way to use four new blocks of frequency, the watchdog said in a statement.

The regulator is opening the 1710-1850 MHz, 1850-1990 MHz and 2110-2170 MHz frequency blocks for private development.

Conatel will accept public comments and observations until September 20 through its electronic forum on its website.

Upon the conclusion of the commentary period, Conatel will hold a public hearing to discuss its findings.

According to Conatel documents, the space is currently used by the state for mobile, mobile by satellite, fixed signals and special research operations.
